It’s quite common for Boston Terrier owners to have more than one Boston and a few people have mentioned on our ‘Share Pics of Your Boston Terrier‘ board (comment on the board and you can add a pic of your BT here too) on Pinterest that they would have 10 BTs if they could.

So what is it about this breed that captivates so many people and creates such a deep passion?

Let’s see how long we can grow this list!

Here’s My 57 Killer Reasons:

Add your reasons in the comments below

  1. Boston Terriers are one of the rare breeds that don’t have a body odour so you won’t get that horrible dog smell in your home
  2. They have a big dog attitude in a small dog body – don’t be surprised if your puppy bosses around dogs 3 times her size
  3. They are called the American Gentleman for their very stylish looking tuxedo markings, the perfect complement for an already stylish owner
  4. Bred specifically to be a companion dog, they will give you endless love
  5. Bostons fart a lot so if you let out a sneaky you can blame it on your BT

  7. They look incredibly cool in a bow tie
  8. Bostons are very intelligent dogs so they are easy to train

  11. Boston Terriers have a very expressive face resulting in some very cute and funny times
  12. They are small but not yappy dogs

  15. As they are small they don’t eat much so your wallet will thank you
  16. Bostons usually snore which can be really funny and adds to their quirkiness
  17. No need for expensive grooming services or hours of brushing – all your Boston needs to keep looking sharp is a quick brush once a week
  18. Boston Terriers don’t shed a lot of hair so you’ll only get the odd strand here and there unlike other breeds which can leave your guests coated
  19. They have big beautiful round eyes that you could stare into forever
  20. Boston Terriers are not technically a Terrier breed
  21. They can strut their stuff with top models and have been featured in many fashion campaigns

  26. You’ll know if your Boston has been naughty by the guilty look on her face

My BT “Razz” was an excellent swimmer. He’d jump into to pool and off he’d go!! He’d even look around to make sure everyone was watching him swim laps around the pool. πŸ™‚

My boston gizmo is beyond amazing he is obsessed with rocks and dives to bottom of pool to retrieve them. He is my soul doggy,he is never leashed and learns boundaries of every yard and does not leave them. I get crowds at parks when he plays soccer with big blow up balls and plays keep away I swear he was a soccer player in a previous life, he bounces balloons off his nose as many times as he can, he dives off cliffs into water, he returns tennis balls, so no need to chase them. He opens Christmas presents with the enthusiasm of a child I could go on and on about how creepy human and amazing he is….he is ten and I will not be able to imagine life without him

My BT Angel was a rescue who was abandoned by an elderly couple at age 3 years. She was so sad and depressed, that she would sit outside our family room and stare at us. She did this for almost an entire year, then one day just came in and jumped up on the couch and leaned on me. That was 12 years age and she is still going strong!!!!

Bostons are incredible at entertaining themselves when you have the nerve to not give them your undivided attention, say, if you must shower or sleep. My little girl Roxy has a favorite toy that is as young as she is (9 years) and its a child’s 20″ bouncy ball. She pushes it with her nose and paws, chasing it all over the place, even bounces and tosses it in the air by biting at it, never damaging it! She will go for what seems like hours doing this! I have to tell her to stop and get water, and being the super-smart girl she is, she listens πŸ™‚ She has even got our new puppy Boston, Jack, to play with her. I would love to have 10 more Boston babies at least!

Nothing beats Boston Terrier snuggles! My Lexie starts in her bed at night and in the morning is lying next to me on my pillow! Love her to pieces and would not change her for the world! She will play with any dog at the dog park ( especially if they are running )

My Boston, Petunia, is the absolute best little girl. She is such a sweetie and loves her kitty sister. Bostons are hysterical dogs with such amazing personalities that are constantly evolving. She is 6 now (birthday is June 3rd!), and just started putting her paw up when she wants something. There’s no way I could sleep without her, because she’s my personal heater and cuddler. I swear this dog could sleep all day. So loyal when I’m not feeling well, too.

I love reading everyone’s BT comments and stories. We have had our baby girl, Darla, for only two months and can’t imagine life without her. She is our first BT but we are already planning our second adoption in a few months. Darla is the most human pup we’ve ever had! Everything I’ve read here is so true! Loving, funny, cuddly, smart, farty, precious, loyal, friendly, silly, playful, beautiful, and so much more. Love Bostons!

He has the biggest heart, and loves to be loved. He’s definitely my bestfriend, I never knew what I was missing until the day I picked him up. Ill be getting my second one next year πŸ™‚ beautiful animals inside and out!

I love my BT Beans. He is 7 now and still loves to play fetch and tug of war. He does have issues with body odor though. If he isn’t bathed at least once a week he smells strongly of “doggie” and he does shed more than I expected…. But I wouldn’t trade him for anything!

Have had Daisy the Wonder dog for 10 years. She is incredibly smart. Makes her bed everyday, checks the washer and dryer when her quilts are being laundered, packs her blankets for trips and drags them out when she returns, remembers almost everything. And she us generous. She donates her allowance for many good causes and signs the card Daisy the Wonder Dog. I love my Boston Terrier. Oh and she owns the back seat in her GMC pickup. She has a clubhouse back there for comfort and safety.

There is not a single point on this page that I would disagree with! I was dead-set against getting a dog, but somehow agreed to it. Fast-forward 18 months and i could not imagine our family without Austin. He brings so much joy to all of us, even his grumpy grandparents. His Nannas never come to visit without a special treat for him in their purse, and doesn’t he know it!! Best dog ever!

I got my first Boston (Rex) in March of 2008 (he will be 9 in November) after wanting on for many years. He is the “best dog ever” as I always tell him. I then rescued my second Boston (Zoe) in January of 2016 (she will be 8 in November). She is a hand full but I love her as much as I love my Rexy. They give me and my family as much love and attention as we can handle and have become my 2nd and 3rd children. Can’t imagine my life without my poopmakers (long story but it is said with endless amounts of love) and will not ever be without a Boston in my life.

My BT, Otis, is the love of my life. He sleeps with me and follows me everywhere. He has the cutest personality. When we go to the dog park, he is only interested in playing with the big dogs. He loves his toys and can destroy a stuffed toy in a matter of minutes. Best dog ever!

We got our Boston Terrier when I put an ad online asking people not to dump their pets. So many poor dogs have been dumped out in our farm area and after I had put the ad for a few weeks, a lady called me and said they had a 4 year old dog that they had just gotten three days before, it wasn’t fitting in, and could she bring it over so I could re home it. We met this dog with the cutest face and after my husband had taken the dog for a walk around our farm for an hour he asked if we could keep him. He’d fallen in love with the little guy. Welcome to the energetic lifestyle of living with a BT!
WOW! I had no idea what a wonderful little dog the BT’s are! Buddy, (we re named him), has stopped biting us, (we think he was abused before we got him as he would cringe and slink away when we first tried to pet him), he loves both of us, gives us kisses, loves being petted, goes everywhere with us, sleeps in our bed, loves to play, run in the pasture, is best friends with our Border Collie cross, is very intelligent, acts like he hasn’t seen me for a year when I come back in from the barn after 1/2 an hour, (licky, smiley, happy, jumpy), loves to go to his favorite store, Mr Pets, asks to see dog videos on my lap top, and yes, is fartutious, some days he is REALLY smelly, but we love him so so much! What a personality!!
